Spring is here, ladies and gentleman! With warmer weather en route, SouL Dance has been tearing up the professional and amateur dance competition scene. Some of our students have received top awards at multiple events, recently!

We have been working for months to perfect and polish our routines and choreography, and the hard work of Scott and John is paying off! We have several other students working on their routines for upcoming showcases in March and April as well!

Intermediate Level Bachata Group Classes in Lakewood Ranch

Join us on Tuesday nights at the Lakewood Ranch studio for our intermediate level bachata group classes. We guarantee you’ll have fun and learn how to blend new patterns together to create a good flow for social dancing.

What is Bachata?

Bachata is a sensual dance that originated from the Dominican Republic. It is typically danced by couples in a close embrace to an 8-count rhythm and features fun and easy footwork with a focus on sexy hip movements for the ladies, body isolations, and a smooth and intimate connection between partners.

What to Expect?

• Warm-up: Light cardio and stretches to prepare your body for movement.
• Footwork and Body Movement: We will break down basic steps, isolations (independent body movements), and turns. This might involve solo practice occasionally throughout the lesson.
• Partner Work: The majority of our time is spent applying the new techniques with partners. We will guide you through basic formations and connection with your partner. Our classes involve rotating partners throughout the session.

When and Where?

Advanced Level Rumba Group Classes in Lakewood Ranch

Rumba has a signature sway and a rhythm often counted as “slow, quick, quick” steps. Add two of these together and you have what we like to call “the power of 6 steps.” It’s a sensual and emotionally charged progression that is sure to satisfy the soul’s need for synergy, connection, and unity.

What is Rumba?

Rumba is a captivating Latin dance known for its slow, romantic feel. It's characterized by swaying hip movements, close connection between partners, and a distinctive "box step" that creates a smooth and elegant flow.

What to Expect?

• Warm-up: As always, we like to warm up and do some light stretching and movements before each lesson. We only spend about 5 minutes doing this, but it’s often the most important part!

• Footwork and Body Control: The dance utilizes a characteristic "Cuban motion" with hip sway and precise footwork. We’ll teach you how to maintain a close connection with subtle body isolations and graceful posture.

• Musicality and Timing: Rumba follows a specific 4/4 rhythm. In our lesson, you’ll learn how to interpret the music through your movements, creating a smooth and expressive flow.

Stretching and Conditioning Classes on Thursday

While our styling classes are on the back burner, our fun stretching and conditioning classes are back by popular demand! There’s no better way to burn a few calories and loosen up those hips and joints.

Join Sanda every Thursday at our Lakewood Ranch location as she takes you through a challenging but rewarding progression of stretching and conditioning, perfectly curated for dancers!

Upcoming Dance Showcase March 16th!

SouL Dance is performing in the Spring Showcase at Sara Dance Center on March 16th. Our January showcase was beyond amazing, with so many wonderful routines by our talented students. This event is sure to be as exciting, and our students are already hard at work on modifying and creating new routines!
